Dr. Zhao works in research administration and in basic and clinical urology and andrology. His earlier work includes investigating the developmental mechanisms of non-obstructive azoospermia (Nature Communications, 2020), developing lipid-regulation therapies for testicular aging (Nature Aging, 2024; Aging Cell, 2026), and mapping the single-cell microenvironment and spatial multi-omics landscape of the corpus cavernosum (Nature Communications, 2022; Cell Reports, 2024).

He holds seven national invention patents, four of which have been translated into applied outcomes. His honors include the 2023 World Chinese Urological Society Rising Star Award, the 2023 Chinese Medical Science and Technology Award, and the 2025 Guangdong Provincial Teaching Achievement Award. He serves on the young editorial board of Med Research and reviews for journals including The Lancet.

Professor Tang serves on national and regional professional committees spanning andrology, sexual medicine, urology, integrative medicine, and reproductive medicine, and chairs the Andrology Branch of the Zhuhai Medical Association. He is also a peer reviewer for the National Natural Science Foundation of China and an evaluation expert for the National Science and Technology Awards platform. He has led five General Program projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and five provincial or ministerial research projects, received four provincial, ministerial, or municipal research awards, and published more than 60 papers as first or corresponding author, including more than 40 SCI-indexed articles.

His long-term clinical and basic research focuses on male sexual dysfunction, male infertility, and prostate disease, with particular emphasis on the molecular mechanisms of testicular tumors and erectile dysfunction. His group uses multi-omics approaches to study regulatory mechanisms in reproductive aging, has integrated multiple data sources to build a cross-species, life-course single-cell transcriptomic atlas of the human and mouse testis, and has collaborated with several institutions to establish Male Health Atlas, a multi-omics data portal for the male genitourinary system. Over the past five years, the team has published 25 papers on the causes, diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of male reproductive diseases in journals including Cell Reports, Nature Communications, Nature Aging, Research, Aging Cell, Communications Biology, Andrology, and Asian Journal of Andrology.

Professor Dai graduated from Hengyang Medical College in 1991, received a master’s degree from the University of South China in 2001, and earned a doctorate from Xiangya School of Medicine, Central South University, in 2004. From January 2008 to 2010, he was a visiting scholar and assistant researcher at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. His long-term research examines male sexual dysfunction and fibrosis after kidney injury. He applies contemporary minimally invasive microsurgical and molecular-biology techniques to challenging clinical questions in male urologic health.

He has led one National Natural Science Foundation of China project, one Wu Jieping Medical Foundation project, and several provincial natural-science projects; participated in multiple international collaborations; and received four provincial or municipal research awards. He has published more than 60 papers in journals including Cell Reports, Nature Medicine, Andrology, Journal of Clinical Investigation, and Sexual Medicine. He also holds committee appointments in robotic urologic surgery, male fertility regulation, kidney cancer, urologic oncology, geriatric andrology, and the Zhuhai Medical Association.
